Abongile Ndzungu is from Umtata in the Eastern Cape. She attended the Walter Sisulu University of Science and Technology there. She graduated with a BSc degree in Biological Science majoring in Zoology and Botany. She continued studying and completed her BSc(Hons)in Zoology in 2010. During her honours year, she attended a "Habitable Planet Workshop" at Rhodes University. She says: "This helped to increase my interest in modules such as Conservation Biology and Conservation Ecology, and these became my favorite courses." She enjoys hiking and travelling.
Abongile's appointment is a one-year internship at SAFRING, and she will be assisting with ringing administration. The position is funded by the DST/NRF Internship Programme for 2012/13.
